"...In this collection of patterns, Abegg presents a variety of projects designed to highlight the beauty of Liberty fabrics, while helping quilters and sewists get the most out of these spendy textiles. The projects include quilts of various sizes, as well as accessories and garments, and the contemporary, streamlined style keeps the floral fabrics from looking too fussy...VERDICT You don't have to love Liberty fabrics to find appealing projects in this collection, and sewists of all skill levels will be inspired by Abegg's stylish creations."
Review   Library Journal - March 1, 2013

Similar to the recent Liberty Book of Home Sewing, but not with the Liberty of London department store imprint, this collection of 25 quilt, accessory, and clothing patterns also celebrates the famous Tana Lawn fabric that Liberty's been producing for decades. This book is less British in style, both in the patterns and the book's slightly busy design, and that posh crispness that makes Liberty so beloved is missed. These designs, however, are approachable and inviting, especially the series of quilts: the Mad Plaid is a stunning quilted tartan, while the Nine-Patch Revisited Baby Quilt is simple enough for the beginning quilter, yet shows off the fabric nicely. The handful of clothing patterns are simple, although options are provided only for standard misses' sizes. Basic instructions for sewing and quilting are provided, but the author does use terms that she doesn't define at times. It's worth noting that Liberty fabrics can be somewhat difficult to find, are expensive, and are rarely copied, and that working with Tana lawn isn't the same as working with a quilting cotton. Other charming—and cheaper—fabrics could, however, easily be substituted. This book will dazzle Liberty lovers. Includes patterns.

Liberty of London's Tana Lawn fabrics are prized for their beautiful designs and soft feel - characteristic worth the hefty per yard price tag. In this collection of patterns, Abegg presents a variety of projects designed to highlight the beauty of Liberty fabrics, while helping quilters and sewists get the most out of these spendy textiles. The projects include quilts of various sizes, as well as accessories and garments, and the contemporary, streamlined style keeps the floral fabrics from looking too fussy. Basic quilting and sewing tips, as well as tips specifically geared toward working with Tana lawn, are included. VERDICT You don't have to love Liberty fabrics to find appealing projects in this collection, and sewists of all skill levels will be inspired by Abegg's stylish creations. (Library Journal, 3/1/13)

Alexia Abegg of Green Bee Designs and Patterns claims bragging rights for being a former minion to Anna Maria Horner (we are seriously jealous). She started Green Bee a few years ago and we're even more jealous because she's just that good. Now she's throwing a Liberty of London love-fest with nine original quilts, plus shirts, bags, pincushions and even an adorable dog collar. But the party really starts with her excellent tutorial on sewing basics and tips for working with these glorious Anglo-lawns.

Most of the quilts are completely beginner-friendly. And then there's that scrumptious Marcelle Medallion Quilt that is both modern and classic. Also check out the Classic Quilted Handbag, Little Pearl Dress and our fave, Olive's Collar. She's even included father-son camp shirts so our boys don't miss out on the Liberty obsession. We love it. Tons!

You will learn how to combine the popular Liberty Tana Lawn lines with other fabrics, plus there are full-size templates with graded tissue-paper garment patterns.

In total there are nine quilt patterns, four small projects, six accessories and six clothing projects included. (Down Under Quilts Magazine, June/July 2013)

Liberty of London Tana Lawn and tradition are synonymous, so it comes as no surprise that many of the quilt designs in this book are low key and simple to piece in order to feature the main Liberty fabric. The 25 projects are predominantly based around the nine-patch block and half-square triangle, but it is the use of fabric and arrangement of these blocks that gives the quilts their charm. Full-size templates are included with graded tissue paper garment patterns. The quilts are simple to construct and make full use of the type of fabric design which is very easily recognizable as Liberty of London. (Fabrications Quilting For You, April/May 2013)

Liberty fabrics have long been loved by quilters and in this inspiring book, projects can be created by combining Liberty Tana Lawn lines with other patchwork cotton fabrics. Projects include quilts, clothing and accessories.

The famous Liberty fabric shop in London, England, started in 1870 selling imported textiles from Japan, China, and India. Today, known for its small floral prints, Liberty Art Fabrics releases two distinct and separate lines every spring and fall, a seasonal collection and a classic collection, according to the newly released book, Liberty Love, by Alexia Marcelle Abegg. Her book offers 25 projects to quilt and sew and features Liberty of London fabrics. Liberty Lifestyle is launching a line of quilt-weight cotton, coming late in 2013. The collection will be distributed in the USA by E. E. Schenck, so check your local quilt shop later on this year. (McCall's Quilting, November/December 2013)

The main quilt that everyone is loving is the Marcella Medallion quilt. I have to admit after seeing all the different variations via Flickr and Pinterest, I love it too.

The book is FULL of projects. There are projects that aren’t quilts too…ipod or Kindle covers. Even clothing patterns. and bag patterns. I’ve been wanting to make a medallion quilt. In fact, making one is on my bucket list. Even though I write and tell you about other projects in the book, I am still stuck on the medallion quilt…I really like it lots!!

Back to the review….there are lots and lots of projects in the book and they vary from beginner to advanced. It’s a good bang from your buck if you like sewing other things besides quilts too. (Jo's Country Junction, 9/20/13)

Coveted by so many, Liberty fabric is in a class of its own in terms of look, feel and heritage. We were excited to see a patchwork book devoted to the stuff, so much so that we've featured one of the projects on the cover of this issue for you to make. Author Alexia Marcelle Abegg wrote and shot this book, and the results are stunning!
(Love Quilting & Patchwork, 9/1/13)

This is a perfect book for beginners that need great tutorials for projects so they can get their feet wet in the world of quilting and sewing.

I found the reference section very comprehensive to help the inexperienced sewer or quilter tackle the projects in the book without worry. (Katie's Quilting Corner, 11/5/13)

Liberty Love is full of 25 sewing and quilting projects which is a fantastic value for your money. The range of projects is massive; from an electronic device holder to a necktie. Something for everyone - and also a great selection of things to make for handmade gifting!

A Book to Expand Your Sewing Horizons
By JLO
If there were ever a book on the market today that would expand your sewing creativeness this would be the book to pick up. Alexia Marcelle Abegg offers a variety of projects to choose from such as quilts, accessories, and clothing in her newly released book Liberty Love.

Some of the best features I found in Liberty Love are the sewing tips. Alexia hits it out of the ballpark with her invisible zipper technique, and she continues on with other helpful garment sewing tips as well. Also if you are new to quilting, Alexia even explains how to piece, baste, free-motion, and bind a quilt too.

As for the title "Liberty Love" it stems from Alesia's love for Liberty of London Fabrics. For those of you who never had your hands on Liberty of London fabrics Alexia explains her love for the fabric and how it can be incorporated with the use of other fabric weights.

As for the 25 projects in this book. The variety is endless!

Modern, stylish projects for every skill level
By s.lea
There is something challenging in the book for every skill level. From a handkerchief to an intricate quilt, there is a variety of projects to try out and great sewing tips that you will wish you had learned years ago. You can tell the book was written by someone who knows how to teach people to sew.

The gorgeous photos will give you a visual tutorial on how to create modern color and print combinations.

Beautiful, practical, and useful sewing book!
By Sara
I just got this book in the mail, and am totally in love with it! I wanted it to make the 'Marcelle Medallion' quilt, but after poring over it all evening, I have found a slew of other projects that I want to make. Although there is a range of skill levels to the projects, there is a great offering, from quilts, to apparel, to accessories. The projects are fresh and fun. These days when I open up a sewing book, maybe 1 or 2 projects impresses me, but I am thoroughly impressed with not only the scope of the projects (25!), but how many of them are so appealing to me! The photography and layout is also beautiful. I studied the Marcelle pattern, since that was the one that I wanted to make, and although it's very intricate, I understood all of the instructions. I also like that this particular pattern is written in a way that makes it scrap-friendly.
