Her Last Love Affair

A very good read. Just not so sure I like the ending. A story about a young woman who gets the diagnosis of cancer from her doctor and how she opended up to her sexual desires before it was to late but I'd like to think she gets a reprieve and accepts treatment and the cancer goes in remission due to her finally opening up and relaxing to enjoy life.

Her last love affair was a great story but can not give a good review. The way it ended was to make people buy more of your books. I like a good story and ending in that book. A lot of writers are doing this now. I want read any more of their books or any more of yours.

Great start to the trilogy

This is one of the most original romances I've read in a long time. It began as a pretty shallow story with lots of gratuitous sex scenes but ended as something much deeper and loving.
It ended in a cliffhanger but I think it's fine as a stand alone novel. The conclusion was done so well that I'm not sure I want to read the next installments. It's very hard to describe without spoiling so you'll just have to take my word for it.
I'll probably read a few reviews for the next in the series just out of curiosity but somehow I am satisfied with the ending.
The only drawbacks were a few typos and a Stephen/ Stephan mixup. If it was a typo and the characters were one in the same then the writer has a continuity problem. He showed up in a grey suit jacket but left in a black leather jacket. And if it was two different guys, then using such similar names, especially in back to back scenes, was careless and confusing.
If I could, I'd give this 4.5 ⭐️

Believing that fantasy “is a necessary ingredient for living”, Geisel was attracted to writing humorous stories from a young age, even as a contributor to Dartmouth’s humor magazine. During the first 30 years of his life, he wrote humorous short stories, articles, and even comic strips for a variety of publications. Occasionally he used his middle name, Seuss, to publish. But it was not until the late 1930s and early 1940s that “Dr. Seuss” truly found his niche as a writer of children’s books.

Initially, readers knew Dr. Seuss as a World War II political cartoonist (if at all), and his first attempt at a children’s book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, was rejected over two dozen times by publishers. It was not until the 1950s that Dr. Seuss began publishing some of his most famous and revered titles, including How the Grinch Stole Christmas. In 1954, Houghton Mifflin asked Dr. Seuss to make a book only out of words that 1st graders could read. The result was his seminal The Cat and the Hat, a popular illustrated rhyme book for kids that has remained a bestseller for over 50 years, along with the equally famous Green Eggs and Ham (1960). Dr. Seuss had hit it big, and he continued to write children’s books even as he and his wife steadfastly refused to have children of his own.

A short read about a great man.

This short book is written for children, but I enjoyed it myself. Dr. Seuss books have always appealed to me in both the areas of art and word. It was gratifying to read about the creator behind the nonsense. "Nonsense wakes up the brain cells." Anyone who believes this is someone I like knowing.

An OK first effort

The ending sucked--that is first and foremost. It leaves you hanging, even though you are anxious to get the book done because after he conquests Panama, the book drags. This would be a cool adventure story for a teenager, I suppose--one of the first YA editions. Summed up in one sentence: it is a tale of adventure of narcissism for old Henry Morgan. This is Steinbeck's first novel; I guess it's not HORRIBLE for a first, written in 1929.

While it is lengthy and overly flowering in parts, it is a wonderful starting point to tracing his lengthy career. Strangely enough, in his later years, he once again turned to childhood inspiration when he penned his "King Arthur" stories. A study of the two also provides an intriguing subject.
